Beth Harrington is a friend of mind, who is going through a tough time…Let me explain.

She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in July 2009, after a procedure, they thought it was gone. In September 2009, after more procedures and tests, they found the cancer to be more aggressive than they thought, and its back. Beth underwent a partial hysterectomy on October 8, 2009 (removal of her cervix & uterus, but her ovaries remain), so as not to worry the cancer would come back.

Well, with the medical procedures comes lots of medical bills, so to help her out some of her friends have come up with a raffle to help offset these bills. So to help get the word out I thought I would post something here to direct you to her raffle site, if you would be interested in any of the goodies and helping out this kind lady :D

2009 Green River Storm Precaution

Well, looks like we have another river to watch this storm season. Seems to be that the Howard Hanson Dam abutment is having some problems to where they will have to let more of the waters flow out the dam therefore making the Green River flow to possible flooding stages, especially if there is huge amounts of rain this year. And hey this is Seattle/Tacoma, it rains minimum of 9 months out of the year!!! Usually the Day before the Memorial Day weekend in September clear to the day after the 4th of July BBQ. Well, the Army Corps of Engineers have been doing Storm Precautions by putting miles of huge sand bags down the river’s course to protect the homes and businesses along it’s path. Of course, Marc and I had to go photograph the work in progress, and then I of course had to do a LO about it…LOL!!! I used this months awesome Guild Kit “This One’s for the Birds” by the Guild Designers. It also coincided with one of the Notebook Challenges “Color Overlay Challenge” at the Guild. Today I got noticed in the DST Weekend Gallery Standouts OCT 31- NOV 1, just how cool is that. I did the LO for two reasons, one is, it is another page of my Collective Soul Lyrics Coffee Table Book, the other is the inspiration came from two sources, one the Oct Artisan Notebook using Mosaics, and the other is Chrissy W over at Elemental Scraps template. She came out with the template awhile ago, so when Collective Soul’s new self titled album came out with a song called “You”, I knew I was gonna use this template to do the LO, just had no Ideal how I was gonna do it, until the Oct Artisan Notebook came out with the Mosaic theme…it was just perfect!!! Pumpkin Patch Day

Well, I took Maddy and one of her friends to the Pumpkin Patch on Monday 10/11. We had a lot of fun!!! The girls played in the bouncy house for over an hour, and we walked through the corn maze looking for treasures of gold & silver and we even found the Tribal feather!!! One of the things we did was of course pick out pumpkins, one for each of the girls, then one for each family, those were big ones and then two small ones each, one for each of their siblings and one for them. Well, they wanted to be pushed around in the wheelbarrow while we looked, which was great, until we started adding all those pumpkins in, oh my Grammie is too olde to push 2 “big” girls that weigh 73# together, and then 63# of pumpkins, boy that equaled 1 tired Grammie!!! But it was a lot of fun. I did come home exhausted went to bed at 7:30 that night!!! ROFL!!!

Well, I of course had to scrap the pics I took of the girls in the wheelbarrow, I used designs by my newest Creative Team Designer, My Creative Pixels. She has really cool designs over at Elemental Scraps. I used a few of her products to finish up this LO…here they are!!!

Happy Haunting

Well, last year Marc got it in his big head to take us to the Haunted House in Seattle in the old George Town Morgue. We dressed in our Pirate’s garb and headed there. As we walked through the morgue/haunted house, Marc went down in one section that had the strobes going…so I yelled “Man down” well with the lights still strobing, Marc saw Dracula with blood teeth with the starched shirt running towards him, when he turned his head the other direction there was a werewolf coming down on him, they only wanted to help him, but he just had come through the body bag section, so he wasn’t letting anyone come near him…once we got through the haunted house we decided that we would never go through one again!!! Until Marc came home this year and asked me if I wanted to go again, I told him I would go but stay outside while he went through…he decided against it!!! Phew!!!
Well last year I did get some pictures and Alicia Murphy has been doing some “Friday Freebies” on her blog, and I snagged her “Autumn Harvest” and scrapped the “creature” that stood on top of the Haunted Morgue. Fall Fun = Maddy Play date!!!

Well, I have been missing my time of one on one with Maddy, I think it’s been since the end of August that we have had just her and me time!!! So Friday, we went to lunch with my DIH Brooke (her Mom), her Grandma Oliver and of course, Ashley (she didn’t eat…LOL!!!). Then Maddy and I took off for a few hours of Maddy and Me time!!! We went out to 410 highway to this pumkin patch, the same one I took her to last year, cause it had the bouncy house, and I let her bounce around in that, and of course, me being the scrapper I am, couldn’t pass up a photo op, and Maddy was sooo good and posed sooo cute for a few pics. She also feed the goats, she really liked how they tickled her hand with their tongue when they took the pellets from it.

So I teamed up one of the photo’s I took with a challenge over at DigiChick and made this LO with Michelle Batton’s neat kit “September Days Revamped” along with her matching alpha and her “Just a bit Brassy” Alpha. I also used one of Litabells Templates which will be available at DRS soon!!! Oh yeah Lita asked me to be on her CT and of course I couldn’t turn that gig down!!! WOOOHOOO!!! So lots of previews to show you :D

Well in June 2009, Marc and I went camping over Chinook (the highest pass in Washington State) to Bumping Crossing and we did a bit of “Swamp Creeping”…Marc style!!! The snow was melted and in it’s place were little water “holes”, so with camera’s in hand, we went to search out little critters, and found the cutest little frog. We sat and photographed him for over an hour, he was such a wonderful model, hmmm or was he just trying to stay still and pretend we weren’t there??? Oh well, we didn’t hurt him, but came away with some fun photos of him!!! So here is my LO of our “Swamp Creeping” experience!!!

I told you all my DBF likes to spoil me, he took me to the Top of the World Restaurant in the Stratosphere for my 50th, what a beautiful place and wonderful scenery!!! The restaurant rotates while you eat so you get a view of area from up top of the tower, just like the Space Needle, which he took me to a few years back for my birthday too!!! He is special!!! They also came around and took our pictures which are what I used for the blog, aren’t they great, I don’t usually like pics of me, but I was happy with these!!! And I am working on another LO which I hope to post tomorrow. You really should go get this kit and join the Guild!!! Til later…Cheers!!!

and Fall is here!!! I have put away the fans and cleaning the heaters to start them up. Sweats are out with socks and slippers and our blankets…yep, no denying it, the cold is soon to come, in fact I think it is already here!!!

But for right now I want to remember the warmth from Las Vegas, most days were in the 90’s, it was sooo nice to be warm!!! I have to admit Yuma and Mexico were a bit too hot for us so we stayed in the air conditioning as much as possible, but it was fun to go see the property in Yuma!!!

Maddy turned 3…

Maddy turned 3 this past month…would some one plz tell her to quit growing up!!! Well for her birthday, Grammie (that’s me) got to do her cupcakes, which turned out to be a cake and cupcakes, since she wanted Dora!!! I also made her birthday pressie this year, it was a Cinderella Dress Up Dress, complete with tiara, and gloves…(glass shoe, ie jellies to come!!!) but at her party I of course had my camera and got this adorable pic of her telling me she was this many!!! I just love the pic so much it was one of my favs from the day!!! I used Amy Stoffel’s “I’m this Many” kit and put some touches on it from “Cake & Ice Cream” and “Clear as Glass” alpha by Tracie Stroud. Such wonderful designs to work with!!! Oh be on the look out…you will be seeing this kit again in the month of September…come back here to my blog Sept 1 and see what I mean :D

Speed Scrap at Scrap Orchard

Well today I hosted a Speed Scrap at Scrap Orchard. A Speed Scrap is where the hostess gives an instruction every 10 minutes over an hour of how to scrap a LO. You build a LO with your take on those instructions. Once the last instruction is given, you have one hour to complete your LO and post to the Speed Scrap gallery. They are alot of fun!!!

Here were my instructions steps:

1. Pick two papers...blend them
2. Use one plain frame, don't forget your picture
3. Make an element cluster in one corner of your frame
4. Use two mats, (these can be cut from paper, premade from a kit or a mask...anything you want to be two mats)
5. Use two alpha's too do your title (or an alpha and a font)
6. Journal at least name, date and place...defineately more if you want :D
7. Add any additional touches you would like
The sky is the limit!!! Have fun!!!

You can use any kit you want, I decided to use Tracie Stroud and Lyndsay Riches kit “Rejuvenate” and Tracie Stroud’s “Blend Your Cares Away” and “It’s a Date Vol 2”, oh yes and her alpha “.

So my take on my instructions is a LO I did was of a picture I took of Marc on our way back down from the Carbon River Glacier back in 2006…what a hike…this is a point where we just needed to stop and catch our breath…or should I say I needed to stop…Marc was kicked back taking in all the beauty of the area!!!

Here is my LO…for the blended pic I used Tracie’s Blend Your Cares Away applied to the pic then I duplicated it and then masked off more of the edges, applied a blend mode to the bottom layer and another blend mode to the upper layer, I really like the effect it gave :D

Well, Scrap Orchard has a challenge called the “RAK Challenge” and you take a pic to scrap for someone and leave one for someone to scrap for you. Well I got Lainie and she left this adorable pic of her niece, is she just not the cutest!!!

Well, I got another LO done for our Collective Soul Album!!! YAY!!! I can’t wait to see them in Seattle, WA on September 16th…We were sooo afraid we would be in Vegas when they came here, since they will be in Vegas just days before we get there for my 50th!!! but they come in on the 16th and we leave on the 19th…YAY!!! We won’t miss them!!!

Well, this is the 3rd LO for the Collective Soul Lyrics Album I am doing. And why you ask did I need to do a different post for this one…Well, I wanted to explain it a bit.

This song was featured in the Movie “Twilight” and is on the soundtrack for the movie. I don’t like Vampires, I am actually terrified of them, to make a long story short, I slept at the bottom of my parents bed when I was 18 YO after watching Dracula, and to this day I pretty much am the same. Yep, logically I know Vampires are mythical, but have you seen a Vampire and lived to tell about it???

A very nice “Team Edward” lady from the net “Lita” helped me find a pic to use to do this LO for my lyrics book and a Designer, “Amy Stoffel” from Scrap Orchard has put a very nice “Prize” on the table if I read the series, when she found out that I wouldn’t read them. (Mind you I wouldn’t read them even though they are set in Forks, WA, not far from Kaloch where we camp from time to time, or when I found out Collective Soul had a song featured) but a Amy Stoffel design yep I am gonna read the series, then she said she might up the ante and that “Prize” is sooo nice that I am in the process of reading the series, I am on book 3, and the only reason I am not done with book 3 in less than a week is because Marc is working graveyards, and I won’t read them when he isn’t here…LOL!!! Hopefully I will have them finished this weekend!!! It really is a good series, my only problem is the Vampires in it!!! and the book hasn’t squashed those jeebies!!!

Well, as I am sure everyone knows, Marc and I are huge Collective Soul Fans!!! And I have been working on a Coffee Table Lyrics Album for us. Well I actually have gotten 3 pages done recently and just finished posting them around Digi World, and thought I would share them here :D Here are two of them the third is gonna have it’s own posting…LOL!!! Flood 1-7-2007

Well, I did get a pic taken before midnight for my 7th PAD, and I have my pic taken for the 8th also, however, I was unable to upload them and I have to leave for work here pretty quickly. The reason that I didn’t get them uploaded is because we were Evacuated from our Apt last night due to flooding. The Puyallup River which is about a mile from us crested over the levies and they were afraid that the levies were gonna break and if that happen they estimated that Fife, (where I live and work) would be under 8 ft of water. I got the call at work that they were evacuating residences, and I couldn’t get ahold of Marc, so I told my boss that I needed to go home to secure our apt. Well, by the time we had everything unplugged and packed up to go, fire trucks were coming through the apt complexes saying to evacuate. So, I called work and told them I wasn’t coming back, (basically I couldn’t get back, as roads were in huge traffic jams and roads were closed. The apt complex just over the fence from us was already flooded to floor boards of vehicles. We took both our vehicles and headed for higher ground and a nice warm motel room, where we proceeded to order Chinese Take out and a few wine coolers…yep roughing it!!! So while I had our puters I just never got around to getting them uploaded and I am giving me that!!! I will update tomorrow with the 7th, 8th and 9th’s PAD then. and yes the 7th and 8th will be some pics that hopefully came out ok, it was pretty dark out, of the flood!!!

Well, I have 5 more minutes before I have to rush out the door, and I almost forgot to take my pic…eek…so this is a really quick set up and pic taken!!! It is of all the tri pods we will take on the Rock Boat IX. We have Marc’s Big Sony one, his small Sony one, we have my Zila Pod and a cheap small one for my point and shoot. Why so many you ask…well each venue is different, don’t know if we will have a good spot to put the table ones…so better prepared than not, and last year one of ours broke … eek!!!

Day 5 of the PAD project!!! YAY...I remembered to do this before I went to work cause who knows what time I will be home and it might be after midnight so I didn't want to miss a day so soon!!! As many know, Marc and I have made a little tradition of going on the Rock Boat every year and we leave in just 10 days ... EEK...not sure I will be ready so much to do soooo little time!!! Well, this year we want to go snorkeling and since I wear glasses, and glasses and snorkel mask don't match, Marc purchased me a snorkel mask that has my prescription in it!!! We went to a local dive store and figured out exactly what I needed, and while theirs were twice...yep...twice the price including shipping, we went on the net and ordered it...well then he said you need a breathing snorkel thingy...so he went to the dive shop to price and get some ideals of what would work good, and the best was like 40 some bucks, medium price was in the 30 range and cheapest was still like 27 bucks...so online again and we found the medium price one for 8 bucks....yep 8 bucks, and while I want businesses to stay in business, especially in todays economy, I also don't want to be gouged!!! So Marc bought me the 8 buck one I think he did pay a little shipping and handling...but not 20 dollars worth!!! So here is my PAD for today:

And we are off!!! We had our first challenge given out early this morning at midnight and Amber and I worked on getting ours done and we did it...actually Amber finished before me, but waited so we could upload them together into the site as Team 31!!! YAY Scrappy Chicks!!! Check out our Scrappy Chicks Blog to see our LO's or go over to NDISB and check them out!!! I just loved Amber's...she scrapped about halloween with a pic of her 3 boys walking down the street with Jerrod pulling her littlest one in a wagon and you gotta love that cute little elephant butt!!! She also put a small pic of each of their faces, and did an awesome job with her tears and her journaling...get this she made her journaling like a spider web and it's glitter ... just way cool!!! Her title is also glitter...she is just sooo talented!!! My train of thought everytime I thought of the challenge, which was to tear a photo in three, was separation and that brought me to my divorce, so for symbolic reasoning I took an old pic of our home we owned and tore it in three and proceeded from there and then added some pretty private journaling on it, so I didn't put it in the write up. While it didn't say anything that was outrageous, it was just private. The site that challenged us (Hummie's World) had an awesome tutorial on paper tearing, go check it out, it's really cool!!!

Well with all the snow we had over the Christmas holidays and cancelled parties, we finally went and met the my kids at Red Robin to celebrate. Maddy was sooo good at the restraurant and loved having "one more Christmas" this time with Grammie and Marc!!! Well, in order for Maddy to take a picture with Grammie, the kids had to bribe her with a jelly bean. *sigh* but hey I got my PAD :D

Amber and I have teamed up to form the Scrappy Chicks for the Amazing Digi Scrapbook Race ~ Season 4. Well, for some it is Season 4, for Amber and I it is our first...EEK!!! Well, Amber made us this really cool Blinkie and set us up with a really cool blog site (blinkie below is hopefully clickable...LOL!!!) ... Thanks Amber, your the Greatest!!!! Did you notice the Pink :D

So wish us luck, with Amber busy running after her three busy boys, and Marc and I getting ready for our cruise on the Rock Boat...this should be interesting to say the least!!! We got our first Challenge tonight at it is at Hummies go take a peak at what we are putting our thinking caps too!!!

YAY 3 DAYS DONE!!!!

Well my hope today for my PAD was to get a picture of Marc and I for our Rock Boat IX Calling Card...but we were both pretty busy. He went with his Mom to get his door on his car fixed, her Christmas gift to him, (I think it is more for me thought :D), the dealership ended up ordering the wrong part so they will have to take his car in again next weekend I would imagine :( , and I had to finish up the kids Christmas stuff, so we were both pretty busy. So finally, I ran in and took some pics of the Caterillar I bought for Maddy for Christmas...isn't he cute!!!!

Well, I woke up this morning and was checking my emails to find an email from NDISB, saying that my LO "Spring Proverb" with this months awesome Guild Membership kit is being featured on their Home Page along with 4 others they spotted. I was just thrilled to say the least!!! You see I didn't submit it, I only posted it for others to see it cause the kit is just so georgeous!!! So it was just a thrill to have my work noticed in this way. Two other of my Team mates from the Guild are also being featured as part of the five LO's, they are Fran 54 with her beautiful LO "I'll be home for Christmas" and Sayo aka Bunnynose with her georgeous "One Holiday Afternoon" is that baby sleeping just not the most precious thing you ever saw and Sayo has showcased it sooo well in this LO!!! Awesome Job Ladies and Congrats!!!!

UGGGGGH!!!! I woke up this morning at 9am (stayed up to 3am...eek) and looked at our window in the bathroom which is that can't see in or out type glass and thought...gosh it looks mighty white out there...

Don't mind the messy window sill...it's the glass I am trying to show you :D

I opened the window and what does appear, no not 8 tiny reindeer but UGGGGH...More Snow!!!!

The past snow we had, what a week ago, was all nice and melted, and now we have not much really just a dusting, but you know I called the weatherman and told him...No More Snow Falling on the Ground...well at least until January 16 when we will be in warm sunny Ft Laurderdale waiting for the 17th to board the Rock Boat for Warm Tropical weather of the Caribbean and that it must be melted off and gone for the year by the 24th so that we can come home to go to work...hmmmm must rethink that last part!!!

(side note: Kami aka Ziggle Designs over at Scrap Orchard came out with a kit, cutest little kit, called "10 Little Monkeys" well I have been singing that in my head for a few days now, cause I really want to use it in a LO, just trying to figure out what I want to do, Well when I saw the snow I immediately started singing...No More Snow Falling on the Ground and kinda made up my own little lyrics to it...well kinda!!! Thus the name of this post, ok so more information than you need!!!)

I have decided to try and give this PAD a try and at least take a pic a day...Well with 2 minutes left of New Years, I finally got a few. (Well I did take a few at midnight, but I didn't count those cause they didn't really turn out, cause I was trying to use my new Point and Shoot, do Marc Camcorder and take arials of Marc's fireworks with my Rebel...eek three cameras at once...not a feat I pulled off at all!!!) Hospital Visit for Marc

Well, Marc tried to get to the doctors twice this last week and both times had to cancel his appt due to weather and work. Why did he need to go to the doctors you ask??? Well the beginning of last week he told me he had something growing on his hand and needed to have it looked at, well the next time I saw him, he showed it to me. He had this huge lump in the web between his thumb and index finger on his right hand...see:

and needless to say, I said yes you need to go to the doctor, he said he noticed it a month and half ago but that recently it started growing....eek!!! So Saturday before the storm was due to roll in at 6pm, we went to run errands and I told him he needed to go to at least a clinic and have it looked at, well in talking we decided if they needed to do something right then that emergency would be better, they would have everything necessary to do it vs a clinic. So off to the hospital we went at 1300. Well 4 hrs later the snow had started and we were still waiting for him to have his hand X rayed to make sure nothing was wrong with the bone, so he sent me ... Chris ... who does not know how to drive well on dry pavement, to go move the car out to the top parking area so we didn't get stuck in the lower uncovered parking area. Me...Chris...snow...ice...hills....eek!!! Well, I accomplished the feat without any damage to Marc's car or myself!!! YAY!!! Here is a bad pic as we left the hospital.

Marc on the other hand, had some good news, some bad news on his hand. Good news, they didn't do anything at the hospital to his hand and the bones all look good. Bad news, he has to see a hand surgeon, as he most likely has a cyst that will have to be surgically removed :( . Most likely before the Rock Boat :( and most likely he will have to use his vacation to recoup :( so no Vegas for my 50th :( !!! But again good news it is only a cyst, it isn't an infection and since Cancer would grow more slowly it most likely is beign!!! So Monday, Marc will call the surgeon and make an appt to be seen and get more info.

Snow...SNOW...and MORE SNOW!!!!

Well Seattle/Tacoma has had a major Storm come through. Last week we had about 1 to 3 inches of snow come through, but it was cold...brrrr...very cold (ok at least for us!!!) never really came up above 30 degrees though, and yes some parts of the country were well below 0, but hey we live in the NW, it's only suppose to rain here!!!

Yep it reads 4 Inches!!!

Well then on Saturday, when all the Christmas parties are suppose to be, we get a bigger storm in, where we were to get from between 3 to 8 more inches, on top of all the snow and ice pack from the last storm, this is not good in Seattle/Tacoma with hills and people that don't know how to drive in it!!! (yep that would include me!!!)

So what did Marc go and do to make sure I would get to work in my back drive light truck, he went out and bought the best chains and then came and chained me up!!! Made sure my truck was filled with gas so that I didn't run out, to go one mile to work, cause that is all I would drive in this kind of conditions!!!

Are these not the coolest Chains Gosh my Man Loves me!!!

Econmonic Layoffs SUCK!!!!

Ok...so my resolution to blog everyday something went down the hill!!! But things have been hectic, trying and not suceeding getting ready for the holidays. Lots have happen, and while I don't want this post to be a downer, this is what is happening.
Our Company, (that Marc and I work for) has done a major economical layoff, and while I didn't get cut, my hours have changed and I know work a swing and Marc is still working on the extra board and goes in the early mornings. So at best, we see each other a few minutes each day while he gets ready to go to work, and I really should be sleeping, during the week. The other thing about my job is that I am now the biller, and a biller I am not!!! And my new boss is riding me to get my speed up. Mind you I had 2 months of training a year ago, while cross training, and then 1 week before he pulled me into the office and said I had to be to 40 bills an hour by January 1st or written up which is a start to be fired, he also said that meeting was a verbal warning, which mean, that is also the start of being fired, so, who knows what the New Year will mean for me, hopefully I will still have a job. I will say the last three nights I did 40 bills an hour, but we were not very busy due to the huge storm we had this past week, snow everywhere!!! So I will close this post with please pray for me, to keep my job!!!

WOW...has it really been over a month since I have posted anything...and soooo much has happened!!! Well I am still on the Guild CT, and Beth Nixon is now opened at a new store iScrapbook.com, and she asked me to be one her CT... WOW, what an honor!!! And then I also tried out for a spot as a Guest on the Scrap Orchard CT and I made it...How exciting is that!!! Well, the Guest spot was to be a month and they just asked all of us to sign new agreements for 3 months...YAY!!! So, I am now CT'ing for some Fab~tabulous Designers!!! And all the ladies on these CT's are just awesome and sooo welcoming!!! Exciting in the world of digi for me!!! Now if I could just get published!!! Really gotta start working harder towards that!!!

Scrap Orchard

Gosh where do I start, I will show you my Contest LO's first :D

The first kit we were given to work with was Scrap Orchards June Mega Kit "June Bugs", what a fun kit to work with...all the cute little lady bugs and flowers...I just really wanted to do something with Maddy interacting with the Ladybugs...so I chose to work with out of bounds, which I do enjoy doing!!! I was quite pleased with this one!!! These were some pics I took of her at the park when Jeremy was playing ball!!!

We had to do two LO's with the kit so I chose to do one with Maddy and her little friend, Claire. The were exploring in the rocks outside the house, I thought the pic was perfect. I really liked how the title came out on this!!! Such a Fun kit to use!!! Well these two LO's got me on to the next round...YAY!!!In the 2nd Round we were assigned a Designer, and I was lucky to get the talent team that makes up Polka Dot Plum aka Lauren and Amy!!! I just loved the colors of this kit Que Sera Sera, and what better subject to scrap but my DGD Maddy again!!! I took this picture of her when we went out to the pumkin patch back in October, it was just one of the many many pictures I took of her that day, she is just growing up way too fast...she really is loosing that baby look and taking on that big girl look!!! She always brings a smile to my face and my heart!!!
This round we were again asked to use the same kit and make two LO's, and of course I chose my favorite subject Maddy, this time with her "Best Bud" Jaxon. Isn't this just the sweetest picture, but Maddy Girl watch out he is a quite the "boy" he sure likes to hug you!!! Well these two LO's got me my spot as Guest CT, which has now worked into being on their CT for 3 months!!! So Lots more LO's to come...I will start blogging every LO I do as it will be on my CT list to post to!!!
I am just sooo excited and thrilled to be part of these teams I am on...they keep me very busy, with wonderful product!!! So HUGE Thank You's to The Guild, Beth Nixon and the ladies at the Scrap Orchard for making this possible for me :D I truly do appreciated it and am thrilled to be using your products!!!!

Payment Promised...

UPDATE
They did pay this Designer monies owed her...but you know, they never should have withheld this money regardless, it saddens me that this Designer had to go through this, and as I learn more about this particular site...it truely isn't where I want to spend my money!!! I really don't want my monies to be held from anyone...and that is exactly what this site did, even if it was only for a short period of time!!! Withholding someones pay is just not right!!! I will say that there truly are some awesome designers at this site, and while I would love to have their product, I will not support that type of business, which means I cannot purchase from them, for that I am sorry!!! I am sure if those designers were in the same shoes as other designers that have left, they would want the same support.

I was out camping this weekend and got back a bit late, thus I am not posting this update until now. I did go read the designers blog when I got home to find that she was emailed that her final check would be mailed out on Monday. Now, I think she did the "classy and high road" thing by immediately posting this as soon as she found out about, rather than waiting until the promised check was in hand, cause it's not yours until you get it...kwim??? But she went ahead to let the digi community know that the check was promised to be mailed and infact said once it is all sorted out that she will remove the post from her blog, which is again a "classy and high road" thing to do!!!
Now it was stated to me before they removed my post at the site I posted at that they would discuss this with me in private, so I pm'd the CEO and what I was told that they had legal right to withhold her money. Well, you know I don't see anywhere that it is right to withhold an employee's final check, it's just not proper or legal from what I have read.
Then there is also the other side of it, if they were totally legal to withhold the check, why back down and set presidence for future final employees (cause ya know, there will be more that leave I am sure!!!) Some would say to be nice...come on bottom line "It's business", Right!?! and paying one former employee their money, does set a presidence for anything future, unless contracts are changed. So for me personally, I don't buy that it is to be "nice" but rather they didn't have a legal right to this designers money, and while I will wait to decide what to do with the rest of my GC in their store (most likely will donate it in their "Breast Cancer Awareness" Day, it's suppose to go 100% to the cause), I have pretty much decided I won't be spending my monies where I don't think they are on the up and up!!!
Also, it has been said that I need to be careful what I post on this blog...but I would like to say that, all entries of mine on this blog are just my thoughts and concerns and my way of journaling my way through those thoughts and concerns...they are only my opinions, you can take them or leave them, doesn't matter to me.

Piracy...does it happen where you don't expect???

Tonight I went to a site to ask a ligimate question, since I at one time purchased extensively at that site, and happen to want to support the talented designers at it, and within two minutes my post was closed for discussion...I wonder why??? And now I have been totally CENSORED!!! The thread has been totally deleted for none to see, hmmm...again, I wonder why???
Here is what I posted...

Are You Committing Piracy?
With the thread started by Margie about the Great Exodus at DSP and her sharing private business concerns that should have been left between employer/employee (which the thread has now been edited to delete a lot of what was shared). I now have concerns regarding how DSP handles the distribution of funds to their employees whether that be past or present. I am referring to the post at a former designer blog that is upset due to non payment for her sales in September and NO response from DSP regarding her payment. I am concerned over this, because as a customer that likes to help, promote and support the great talented ladies from DSP, I would be very concerned and upset to know that my monies that I use at this site are not being distributed as what I would expect when I purchase something. I also know that I depend on the money my employer pays me when it is due and that it be on time. Also, that in no way or form would I expect them to withhold any of that money, for any amount of time, no matter what, I depend on my income.
And while it seems she tried to handle this situation privately, there comes a time that you have to speak out for yourself, much like a couple of current DSP Designers did on their blogs about non payment for papers they made for a Printing Company that didn’t pay them.
According to this former designer, her payment should have arrived on the 15th of the month, and here it is the 24th and she has not had any money and only one vague response from DSP regarding her funds, which she says she asked for clarification on the vague response and had still heard nothing.
So DSP what is up with that???
There was a question within her statement which is making me think and realize it is something that we as consumers need to be aware of no matter where or how prestigious the site is when purchasing products online..."Could this be considered Piracy?" Something to think about when and where we are spending our money and wanting it to be distributed fairly and timely!!!

I will gladly discuss this with you privately, but I won't break our commitment to non-disclosure, but fyi, no we are not committing piracy.

While I would say this is defineately a contriversal issue, it is an issue as a consumer I have the right to know. As a consumer I want to know if I am contributing to piracy, wouldn't you???

So does cutting off the post with the reply mean that no matter what they do, they can do it because they are above it all. Well I guess so since I have now been totally CENSORED!!! So, am I to take their word that it's not piracy, well I looked up that word in the dictionary...and this is what it says...

Don't Believe Everything your Teacher tells you...

Ok...Maggie aka Sandersmr, at the Guild, challenged us to write about a school grade memory...do you realize Maggie just how long ago that was for me...but low a behold I can remember my first day of kindergarden. My Mom had just started working when I entered school, so my sister Kathy who is 4 years older than me (her birthday is actually today too, Happy Birthday Sis!!!) she took me to school on my first day, I was still 4 years old as my birthday falls in the month of September. Well anyways, my sis had to go to class so she was gonna leave me to get to class and I started crying and my teacher Mrs. Macaroy (we called her Macaroni later on in my elementary years...wow I can't believe I remembered her name, let alone that!!!) well anyways Mrs Macaroy told me that if I didn't stop crying she was gonna take me to see Mr Davis the Principal. From that day on until I entered High School, I though all Principals were Mr Davis, (yep no lie until I entered high school. ) You see Mr Davis went to the Junior High School the year I started Jr High too. So the lesson to learn is "Don't Believe Everything your Teacher tells you" it can scar you for years!!!

WOW, I can't believe that 3 months have pasted since I have updated here!!! I have been busy, with Summer activities and trying hard to be creative for the Guild. They have their new kit out and it is just sooooo sweet!!!! It's called "Sweet Serendipity" and is just filled with such fun, cute elements and awesome papers!!! Well, I was busy all weekend scrapping and trying to get my apt cleaned up for my parents next week...well I did get scrapping done!!! Important things first right!!! Debb Cozzi aka Dee~Bee Designs has a new kit out, "Garden Whispers". Don't you just love that name!!! Well the name is not all you will love, the kit is georgeous!!! I had to play with it and of course who would come to mind, none other but my DGD Maddy. We had some family pics taken before my youngest boy and his wife leave to move to another state, far far away :( ... so I wanted family pictures taken. And this is one that Maddy and I got in :D Isn't she just a sweetie!!! yep the apple of her Grammie's eye!!!

Scraplift/Tag Challenge at the Guild

Gosh ... where does the time go, I thought I had just updated this blog only to find out it was two days ago...boy oh boy, I tell you. Well, I did a really fun challenge over at the Guild...it is a Scraplift Tag Challenge, and was part of the Artisan Notebook "Learn by Lifting" article, it was alot of fun to do and the information in the Artisan Notebook was soooo helpful, inspiring and just an overall cool tool to refer to!!! go check it out here and then when you just love this challenge go check out how to become a Guild Member!!! Well, back to what I was saying, I did this challenge and one Layout I started was a scraplift of Amson's (Carolyn) sweet LO "My Little Birdie", well, I started it but got stuck on the title, I just couldn't figure out how to do it...I knew I wanted the Bass to be in the Typewriter Font, but then I wanted Solo to go over it and everything I tired just over powered the Bass...so I kept putting it away thinking something would click finally, well guess what, inspiration hit in the middle of the night, yep in my sleep I worked it out and came up with this:

Well, being on the Guild Creative Team we were asked to create a LO about reflection, it was wide span on what we wanted to reflect upon in our life, and I decided to reflect upon "Who am I!?!" Well...it's the first of the month, and just like Christmas. Being a Digital Scrapbooker and signing up for the Membership kits is just like Christmas to me. A few days before the end of the month I start to anticipate that time when the 1st rolls around...and then I'm lucky because being that I am on PST I get to open my "pressie's" before the strike of midnight on the first. YAY!!! Maggie at the Guild is running this Journaling Challenge and it just made me crack up, and also made me realize just how old I am...so her challenge was to blog or journal something that you Remember...Well, with the price of gas, I have to go with that one...
I can remember going to the gas station with my Daddy and it costing 29 cents a gallon, and my Daddy thinking, that it was just soooo expensive, he would rant and rave over the fact that he had to pay 29 cents a gallon. Well, then I can remember about the time that I started to drive gas was just raising in price...it was 39 cents a gallon and then all the sudden it was ... oh my ... 59 cents a gallon. Well on a teenager, babysitting don't have a real job wages...that was just like oh my how will I get to the mall or my friends house, I don't have enough gas and no money to buy any...bummer, guess I have to walk :( . So now I reflect back on this and say, gosh I want 59 cent gasoline, cause it is costing me $100.00 to fill my truck up at $3.89 a gallon...yep, that was then in the 1970's and this is now in 2008. Oh to be young again!!!

Well, I thought I would gross you all out with pics of my Owie and it gave me a reason to play with my new toys. Took the second pic with my new flash (that I still don't know how to use) used my new remote, WOW was that cool and the tripod. Was alot of fun!!! Here are my owies:

This one was taken on Friday evening the 9th of May, 2008, right after I took the bandaid off. I didn't have all my new toys yet :(

This one was taken Saturday/Sunday right after midnight so technically it's Mother's Day 2008 5/9. It is looking better, but it still hurts some and is starting to get to the itchy stage :(

I helped the Economy

Well...Excitement...I got my money from the IRS...and yep I did exactly what they wanted us to do put it back into the economy :D!!! I went and purchased an external flash, a remote, a new battery, an ultravioleta filter for my new bigger lens, and a small tri pod all for my rebel YAY!!! Now I just need to figure out how to use them ... eek ... thus no pics :D

Feel Sorry for Me!?!

Ok ... Thought I would update again...not alot to say, and I never know what to say :D

Today I finally went to the doctor to have the splotch on my face looked at again, back in 2002 they said it was pre cancerous and to just watch it, but took three smallers spots closer to my left ear off as they were skin cancer. Well then about 2 years ago the one on my face started growing and bothering me more and more, so I finally got an appt to see a specialist and went in today. He gave me three choices, he said he thought it was still in the pre stages, so the choices were.

1. I could continue to watch it

2. He could do a scrap and bioposy it

3. Use a cream that would like disolve it off

Well with my past history of having 4 skin cancers removed (one from a curling iron) I chose to play it save and have it scrapped and biopsied. So they numbed the spot and took a piece of it and then scrapped it with a razor blade. it stayed numb until about 15 minutes ago 22oo, now it is starting to sting :(...here is a self portrait of it ... do you feel sorry for me yet!?!

ok I haven't posted in a long time, but go figure I have been scrapping!!!

I wanted to post this so that I remember exactly how I am feeling today!!! I am ecstatic!!! I just cannot believe what the month of December has brought to my scrapping world!!!

I am December's Spotlight at DSP, One of my LO's (You Make My World Beautiful) was inducted into the "Hall of Fame, One of my LO's (Over Time) was chosen "Layout of the Day ~ December 5th", and I got an email from Emma telling me my LO, "You Make My World Beautiful" was chosen for "February's Scrapalong". This is another LO I did from our Rock Boat '07 Cruise. It was just so cool to be walking through the Boat and see the musicians throughout the Boat. On the day these pics were taken, Marc and I were walking and saw Asyln and Zac Brown doing a practice jam in one of the bars. It was so cool...we sat down and enjoyed the music and commardory amoungst the musicians and their fans!!!

WOW... I can't believe I completed 2LO's in 1 day... Yes one was a template, but hey 2 LO's is 2 LO's!!! These LO's were for the Birthday Bash Challenge over at Oscraps.

This LO was for the "Your Birthday" Challenge to tell about a birthday you remember...well my 5th birthday was kinda a sad story...but actually turned out ok...but it's sure is funny what we can remember after we are all grown up!!!

Products used for this LO are all by Sweet Genevieve's Designs and consist of her Kit "Sunny Days" and her Template "Design Savvy Rounded Corners" . I have used alot of templates, but I really enjoyed using Genevieve's Templates they were already into one file so all the coping and pasting was already done and the template itself was very easy to use...her kit has some very vibrant colors and fun elements!!! Just great all around products...you can purchase her products at Oscraps (see link on side of blog)

My 2nd LO is of my Beautiful Granddaughter!!! When I was shopping at Oscraps I came across the really cool "Smile" Overlay by Sue Cummings, and thought of Madison because her Smile is so contagious and truly makes my day to see it!!! I did this one for the "Birthday Bash: Mix It Up!" Challenge at Oscraps...to use at least 4 different designers...OH MY, what a challenge for me...I have a very hard time with this as I always feel like I am doing an unjustice to a designer to not only use their products...but I did it and not only used 4 but 5 designers ... Woooohooo!!!

Well, this is my very first post and I just don't know what to say...LOL
